Crunchyroll is set to debut the new anime series ‘Nyaight of the Living Cat’ starting July 6, with weekly episodes premiering every Sunday across North America and additional territories. This post-apocalyptic comedy, adapted from Hawkman and Mecha-Roots’ manga, is directed by Tomohiro Kamitani and executive directed by renowned Japanese filmmaker Takashi Miike. Produced by OLM, known for titles like Pokémon, the series will be distributed by Sony Pictures Entertainment in Japan and select Asian regions. The series follows a unique narrative where a global ‘nyandemic’ causes people to transform into cats upon contact, challenging humanity’s survival instincts. The show’s third and fourth episodes will premiere at the Fantasia International Film Festival in Canada, while an early screening of the first episode will occur at Anime Expo in Los Angeles.
