Official Trailer for Wacky Comedy ‘Ebony & Ivory’ from Jim Hosking

“Musical legends help each other to make music!” Indeed, they do. Drafthouse Films has unveiled the official trailer for Ebony & Ivory, a quirky and entertaining spoof comedy crafted by British filmmaker Jim Hosking. This film made its debut at Fantastic Fest 2024 and has since been showcased at the 2024 Night Visions Film Festival in Finland, as well as the 2025 Glasgow Film Festival earlier this year. Known for his unique style, Hosking, the director of The Greasy Strangler, brings us a surreal comedy where two musical icons convene at a Scottish cottage on The Mull Of Kintyre for a pivotal meeting aimed at creating a collaboration that could lead to a Global Number One hit single. The film stars Sky Elobar and Gil Gex, and it appears to playfully reference the likes of Milli Vanilli and other unconventional music duos featuring renowned artists. While reviews vary, one particularly amusing take suggests: “Don’t go into this expecting anything more than a film made by the guy who directed The Greasy Strangler, featuring Stevie Wonder and Paul McCartney discussing veggie sausages and indulging in some light-hearted fun.” It certainly sounds entertaining! “You just sit with it. It’s strange, a bit silly, sometimes funny, and occasionally very funny.” This film promises to be wonderfully bizarre.

Years later, Bay Area rapper Mac Dre popularized the phrase ‘stupid doo doo dumb’ to celebrate that carefree mindset. In his latest feature, Jim Hosking explores another pivotal moment in pop culture: the legendary meeting of two musical icons, merging their life experiences and artistic brilliance to create a song that aims to unite a generation in racial harmony. I’m, of course, referring to Paul McCartney and Stevie Wonder – the subjects of Hosking’s latest feature-length comedic endeavor.” Ebony & Ivory is a comedy film penned and directed by the eccentric British indie filmmaker Jim Hosking, known for his previous works including The Greasy Strangler and An Evening with Beverly Luff Linn, along with various shorts. The film is produced by Theo Brooks, Jim Hosking, Denzil Monk, and Ant Timpson.
